Work flawlessly on 2011 Golf MK6 2.5L

Bought these to replace worn out OEM speakers that would rattle every time I closed the door or drove with the windows partially open. Turns out you can only slam the door shut so many times over the life of a VW before the speakers deteriorate.

They sound better than OEM, I'm not enough of an expert on audio quality to rate them beyond that. I have DSP on a aftermarket Xtrons headunit ( IA92MTVL-US ), no amp.

The fit is identical and connectors work flawlessly, only struggle I had was drilling out the old rivets and making sure I still had a metal ring left in the plastic afterwards to hold the new rivets (you will need a rivet tool to install these new woofers, the box does come with 10 rivets). The old rivets loved to spin in place after drilling them and pretty much melted the plastic on the old speakers. Wiring was straight forward, make sure you connect ground cable with black line to the one on the adapters for the tweeters, other than that they just get taped onto the plastic housing unlike the woofers that are riveted.

The manual that comes with the product is useless, and the online version of it equally as useless, but trust me you will figure it out, or at least I did, I decided to put the X shaped tape on the back of the tweeters as well as putting some glue between them and the casing to be sure. The YouTube video from Focal was dated and didn't help much except point out the obvious.

The IS VW 165 2-way component kit is designed for all drivers who want to replace their original audio system with a hi-fi quality sound solution.
The speaker drivers employ Polyglass technology, which delivers well-defined midrange and bass. The sound is natural, without coloration. The Aluminium inverted dome tweeter, a Focal technology, provides perfect treble reproduction in every direction. In addition, tweeter mounting foams and anti-vibration foams are included for a perfect set up.

Quick and easy to install, this kit is compatible with the latest Volkswagen models (Passat, Tiguan, Golf 8, etc.), and can also be installed in many Seat and Skoda models.

This kit is designed for vehicles that have tweeter slots.
