High quality product but not plug and play.

I installed these plates on my 2011 F-150 SuperCrew with the factory premium Sony 8 speaker sound system. They aren’t plug and play by any means. I rerouted some wiring to make installation easier. Holes must be drilled in the door sheet metal to mount them. Make sure you don’t drill into wiring or something vital. One must test fit for the best mounting location that has the least interference. Like I said, thes panels aren’t plug and play. But once installed correctly they are solid and make a big difference. I opted to cover them with sound deadening material along with the rest of door. Once completed and the new speaker installed the difference was night and day. The bass response was so much better than before. The panels themselves are well made and really sturdy. They are about 3/16 of an inch thick. Precisely cut and drilled. The hole in the center works well for the door lock actuator cable. I had to trim some of the insulation off it to get it to work though. If you intend to install these as apart your sound deadening improvement efforts they will make the result better than without it.

Perfect fit and easy install.

This does exactly what they claim. Fit is perfect, install is super easy, and the end result is better sound performance.

Requires modifying both metal panel, as well as plastic door trim

Here are my notes, and I am speaking for the 2014 f-150 with a Sony system:
* The screws are pointless, there is no way they were meant to secure to metal. I had to buy riv-nuts, bolts, and a riv-nut riveting tool.
* Routing of the wiring in the door has to be modified a little, though it's manageable
* THE DOOR PANELS WILL NOT GO ON WITH THIS ON - this is kind of a big one. The door panels have white plastic parts that fit toward the inside of this panel that is getting blocked off. So you either need to modify your door panels and hope something doesn't get messed up, or this is not something you can use. The door panels on my f-150 look very little like the one in the description picture, it's unclear if they changed within the 12th gen f-150, or if these are just heavily modified. The problem is, nothing in the description of this product mentions that anything needs to be modified.

I'm pretty disappointed, and I don't think I will even get to use the product. Even more discouraging was the complete lack in sound characteristic change when installing this on one door (while door panel was off). So even if I do the work of grinding off plastic pieces from my door panel, I don't expect it to have any effect. So overall, disappointing product.

Block off Plates

Sound good sells only the best products. These block off plates look very high quality but have not been installed yet.

Outstanding Product!

Installation isn’t complicated, but it would be nice to have some reference points as to exactly where they are be positioned. They cover the main openings as well as smaller ones nearby to completely seal the door panel, but getting the orientation just right before drilling holes for the screws is a little tricky. I would drill two holes while holding the piece in place and then put the two screws in to locate it before drilling and adding the remaining screws. Was going to add component speakers to the front doors, but decided to hold off and I’m glad I did. These plates and some sound deadener completely corrected the lack of bass from the factory Bose speakers. I also added some thin material to better seal these to the doors. I couldn’t feel the bass at all from any of the door speakers prior to adding the panels, but that isn’t the case anymore. Extremely pleased with my purchase!

Perfect fit!

These block off plates were perfect for my 2024 Silverado HD! Complemented the sound treatment and added a lot of control and depth to the midbass! I wouldn’t consider a speaker upgrade without using these panels or you’ll leave a lot of sound potential on the table!

Exceeded My Expectations

These front door block off plates were exactly what I wanted and needed. Anyone with a Tundra knows that it’s difficult to get good mid bass from Tundra doors.. This was the final piece I needed to get my mids where I wanted them. I only ordered the front plates just to make sure they were what I needed. They exceeded my expectations and will be ordering them for my rear doors now.
